SYNOPSIS

Assyria, 7th century BC
The son of the king and a Greek concubine, Tiglath Ashur, tells his life of slaughters and betrayals, from his childhood and friendship with his half-brother Esarhaddon to his exile. While in the capital of the empire, Nineveh, plots are hatched against the successor of the king of Assyria, Tiglath becomes a legendary warrior. At the same time, a prophecy puts to the test the bond that unites him to his beloved brother designated as the future king.

REVIEW

An interesting story but a bit slow and with a series of long episodes that, from my point of view, contribute little to the novel. The characters are the true engine of the narration. They are well constructed and discovering their fate was what made me read the book until the end.
First person narration. Well-defined characters from a physical and psychological point of view. Fluid dialogues. Good use of monologues to help the reader understand certain aspects of the story. Descriptions of places and scenes sufficient to follow the narration. By and large, a successful composition of the structure around different themes.
